All Health Upgrades and Med-Stim are REPLACED

Warren Marsh’s journey into and around Phoenix-City in REPLACED is an adventure full of dangerous obstacles and fearsome enemies. While having enough firepower to deal with those enemies is very important, survival is more important. Thankfully, the game offers various upgrades to help even out the odds.

Some of these upgrades include a boost to your health gauge and the Med-Stim feature, which will help you get through the game’s more uphill battles. Even better, getting them all gets you an achievement, so here’s where you can get all the Health and Med-Stim upgrades in REPLACED.

How Does Health Promotion and Med-Stim Work in Recovery?

Health improvement gives you a permanent boost to your health gaugeindicated by a row of red hearts in the upper left corner of the screen. Each upgrade usually adds half a heart, and is technically referred to in-game as a ‘Genetic Profile’ upgrade.

Meanwhile, the Med-Stim upgrade provides Med-Stims upgrades that you use during combat to fill your health gauge. They can increase their overall performance and also increasing the amount of Med-Stims you can use during the fight. Technically they are referred to in-game as names like ‘Immune Modulator’ or ‘Rechargeable Ampoule’.

Health Upgrades and Med-Stim are essential to survive combat challenges throughout REPLACED. Your strength doesn’t care much about the natural obstacles in the platforming sequence, as missing a jump or landing on a dangerous spot almost always means dying and resetting the checkpoint. However, as the game’s combat becomes more difficult, having a lot of health and stamina is an absolute necessity.

If you collect all the Health and Med-Stim upgrades in the game, you will unlock the achievement ‘My Body is a Machine’.

All Improved Health Areas and Med-Stim ARE REPLACED

Below is a complete list of all Health and Med-Stim upgrades in REPLACED, including where and how to find them in each chapter.

Chapter 1

Health Promotion 1 – Outside the Restaurant

Genetic Profile – Health increased

The game’s first Health boost is on the floor just outside the door of an abandoned restaurant (see the big sign in the background) during the termite sequence.

Chapter 2

Med-Stim Upgrade – Reward for Seeking a Doctor

Rechargeable Ampoule 1 – The amount of Med-Stims has increased

This upgrade is given as a reward for completing the Doctor’s side quest found during this particular chapter.

Med-Stim Development – Donor Rush Arcade Game Reward

Immune Modulator – Med-Stims are now used much faster

This upgrade is given as a reward for Susan’s high score in the Donor Rush arcade minigame after it has been fixed.

Restored: All music track locations

Take a nice synth song with you around Phoenix-City.

Health Improvement – My Only Sun Quest Award

Genetic profile 2 – Health increased

This upgrade is given as a reward for completing David’s quest to repair his telescope.

Chapter 3

Health Promotion – Railway Station Office

Genetic profile 4 – Health increased

This upgrade is found inside a hidden office room in the subway section of Chapter 3. Right after you find and use the Pickaxe, keep running to the right on the high ground until you reach the ledge. Instead of continuing, watch for the button to turn and run towards the open door in the back, then run left into the office area. Continue left until you reach the end, where you can pick up an upgrade.

Health Upgrade – Subway Platform Room

Genetic profile 3 – Health increased

This development is continuously found in the subway area, especially in the section with many climbing obstacles in front of the ‘Prospero Facility’ platform. Keep running to the right until you go through the open door into a hidden room. Continue to the right until you get the ‘Scan’ prompt and select it to get the upgrade.

Chapter 4

Health Improvement – The Old Man’s Quest Reward

Genetic profile 5 – Health increased

This upgrade is given as a reward for completing the Old Hospital side quest. See our Family Reunification Quest Guide for details on how to complete it.

Med-Stim Upgrade – Edward’s Quest Reward

Rechargeable Ampoule 2 – The amount of Med-Stims has increased

This upgrade is given as a reward for completing Edward’s side quest, which begins inside the Western Station. Once you examine the graffiti on the west side of the station building, an upgrade will unlock.

Chapter 5

Health Improvement – Low Level Railway Station

Genetic profile 6 – Health increased

This development is located below the elevated platform with an abandoned train car.

Chapter 6

Health Upgrade – Vent Under Server Room

Genetic profile 7 – Health increased

This upgrade is available in the main server room section of the chapter. Make your way to the right across the room until there is a gap in one of the feeder towers where you can drop down when the lower panels are open. Drop down and crawl left along the small shaft until you get a boost to scan.

Chapter 7

Health Upgrade – Sandra Side Quest Award

Genetic profile 9 – Health increased

This upgrade is given as the main reward for completing Sandra’s side quest, which you can pick up inside the West Station. After meeting him and the twins, an upgrade will unlock.

Med-Stim Development – Theater Game Award

Adrenaline Injector – Restores a small amount of health after a fatal hit. Can be activated once per fight.

This upgrade is given as a reward for beating all three arcade games in the arcade at Western Station with a high score. This will also give you Old School success.

Chapter 8

Development of Med-Stim – Steam Vent Chamber Under City Streets

Rechargeable Ampoule 3 – The amount of Med-Stims has increased

This development is located inside a small vent inside the ‘DEP 311’ room (in large letters on the wall) under the city streets. You’ll land here when trying to log in to the Phoenix Savings and Loan online program for the last sanitation worker. Push the steam cart all the way to the right on the wall and use your double jump to reach the small exhaust shaft.

Chapter 9

Health Upgrade – Tower Atrium Level Up

Genetic profile 10 – Health increased

After defeating a group of enemies on the lower level of the Phoenix Lab tower atrium, you must climb all the way up to reach the next section of the chapter. This upgrade is found on the balcony on the left side of level four (04). You will find it at the same time as the ‘Exquisite Menu’ collection.
