TORRANCE, Calif., April 2, 2026 – American Honda Motor Co., Inc., today announced that more than one million students have participated in its new Honda Safety Driven driver safety program in partnership with Discovery Education. Even as Honda engineers continue to improve the design and performance of vehicles, the company believes that technology alone is not enough to achieve its challenging goal of zero collisions involving motorcycles and Honda vehicles by 2050. Honda’s safety strategy is committed to advancing the safety of everyone who shares the road in three areas: technological development, raising the level of driver behavior and improving public safety performance, efforts to improve public safety and government efforts to improve public safety and improve public safety. security ecosystem. In other words, Honda wants to achieve the safety of everyone, and everyone.

“We are proud to reach this milestone of one million students with our safety awareness program but our real goal is zero – as nothing happens when our vehicles collide,” said MJ Foxley, Safety Strategy Leader at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. behavior through new and exciting educational experiences.”

Honda Safety Driven
The Honda Safety Driven initiative, in partnership with Discovery Education, uses real-world Science, Technology Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) concepts to equip students with safe driving skills and encourage confident decision-making. The educational program was started on Oct. 2023 with a virtual tour for students in grades 3-12, taking them inside Honda’s Automotive Safety Research Facility in Raymond, Ohio and the Driving Simulation Laboratory at Ohio State University. To date, this virtual tour has reached over 250,000 students, and teachers are expected to continue using it each new school year as part of their developing curriculum.

In the third year of this program, Honda has launched a video series called Honda Safety in Action: From Racetrack to Roadway – It Takes Allfeaturing IndyCar driver and Indy 500 winner Scott Dixon and motocross riders Jett and Hunter Lawrence of the Honda HRC Progressive Racing team, to show how high-speed racing can promote safe real-world riding and driving habits. The two-part video series explored the safety of both four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles, including bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, and motorcycles, giving Honda a new way to engage and engage with students by translating high-level racing information into practical, everyday safety tips.

“Safety is not just what a car can do; it’s about the choices people make. Our work with Honda meets students early, helping them understand how judgment, awareness, and behavior play a role in keeping themselves and others safe. Reaching one million students shows what can happen when education and industry work together with purpose,” said Catherine Dunlop, senior vice president of Corporate Partnerships at Discovery Education at Corporate Educations.

Honda Safety Driven also introduced new elements of the program in 2024, the second year of the program, with two safety education resources online and through the Discovery Education network. This includes a crash test video game called “Crash Lesson” to entertain and educate students about the physics of car crashes and how different factors can affect the level of danger to passengers, and a digital lesson pack called “Pedestrian Safety” that teaches students about road safety for those not behind the wheel. A teacher’s guide, presentation, family action plans, and e-bike and e-scooter safety-related activities drive learning.
